Obituary


Bonnie Jean (Jergenson) Hill, 78, of Conrad passed away Friday, September 8, 2017 at the Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad under the loving care of Hospice Compassus and the Oakview staff.

Funeral services for Bonnie Hill will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at 11:00AM at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion, with Pastor Zach Fischer officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in rural Woolstock.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Wednesday.

Bonnie, was the daughter of Selmer “Sam” and Helen Carter Jergenson. She was born April 2, 1939 in rural Clarion, Iowa. Bonnie married Kenneth L. Hill on September 21, 1957 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Clarion. Bonnie and her husband lived in Grundy Center for many years where she was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening and canning.

She and Kenny were fond of going to the Surf Ballroom and dancing on their anniversary. She loved to dress in a gown, put on her jewelry and dance the waltz. In her younger years she worked as a waitress, bartender and in an egg factory. Later in life she was a stay at home mother. She tried her hand at painting and making quilts. She made the best peanut butter cookies and homemade brownies. Her grandchildren enjoyed a Christmas lights tour every year and playing silly imaginary games. Bonnie and her daughter enjoyed playing Canasta together.

Bonnie is survived by her daughter Tammy Strait and her husband George of Whitten; her grandson Michael Strait and his wife Tara of rural New Providence; her granddaughter Stephanie Choate and her husband Andy of rural Liscomb; 4 great grandsons; her sister Mardell Jaskolski of Strawberry Point; brothers Dick Jergenson of Clarion; Denny (and Kathy) Jergenson of Humboldt; John (and Sue) Jergenson of Collinsville, IL and Randy Jergenson of Council Bluffs.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her brother Ron, brother-in-law Wallace Lindstrom and sister-in-law Norma Jergenson.
