Obituary


Alice “Sue” Peyton, 87, of Clarion passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at the Rehabilitation Center of Belmond. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 6:00 PM on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion. Visitation will be followed by a scriptural prayer service beginning at 6:00 PM. Alice “Sue” Peyton, 87, of Clarion passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at the Rehabilitation Center of Belmond. Visitation will be followed by a scriptural prayer service beginning at 6:00 PM. Alice Margaret Annie was born on August 2, 1930 in Sheffield, Iowa to Milton Lloyd and Alice Barbara (Grabbe) Alden. Alice is a 10th generation Alden from the Mayflower’s John and Priscilla Alden. John (1) Joseph (2) John (3) Noah (4) Israel (5) Abner (6) Israel Timothy (7) Frederick Israel (8) Milton Lloyd (9). Alice graduated from Merservey High School and has lived in Belmond, Popejoy, Dows, Alden, and Clarion. After graduation, Sue attended the Hamilton Business School in Mason City, Iowa. She used her secretarial skills while employed at Highway Lumber in Iowa Falls and Allen Printing in Clarion. She was an excellent seamstress and worked at H.H. & B. Sports in Clarion and Dodger Industry in Eagle Grove. Sue was an Area Leader for the Green Thumb Program working Wright and the surrounding counties as well as Activities Director for the Clarion Care Center in Clarion. Alice is survived by her daughters Susanne (Jan) Mickelson of Ankeny, Iowa and Ronda Kruger of Clarion, Iowa; grandson Scott Mickelson of West Des Moines, Iowa; granddaughters Wendy (Darryl) Kuhl of Clear Lake, Iowa, Rachel (Chris) Montag of West Bend, Iowa; great-grandson’s  Brantley and Bodey Montag; and special friend Gary Echelberger of Dows, Iowa. Alice is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Warren (Toots) Alden, Mike Alden, John Alden, and Orville “Duke” Alden; and son-in-law Myrl Kruger.
