Obituary

Antonio “Tony” Tovar Villela Jr., 43, of Crystal Lake, Iowa passed away on Friday, December 18, 2009 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinic in Iowa City, Iowa.

A visitation for friends and family will be held at the Ewing Funeral Home, 178 Center Street West, in Britt, Iowa on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm.

Tony was born on September 3, 1966 in Corpus Christi, Texas. The family then moved to Iowa in the early 70’s where he graduated from Forest City High School in 1985.  After graduation he worked for Bestway Asphalt out of Greeley, Colorado.  He then transitioned into roofing, working for Midwest Roofing Co. and working on various roofing projects throughout Northern Iowa.

To say that Tony was a character would be an understatement.  A couple of his aliases were Super Tone and Tony-licious. He was loved by his many friends and family and truly enjoyed spending time outdoors, barbecuing, riding his bike with his nephew, walking around the lake and sledding in the winter with his nephew Javier.  He was a great lover of animals and particularly loved caring for cats.  In his youth he took great enjoyment with his friends including John Christian, Ed Kenyon and Mike Pedersen swimming at Eight Mile Lake and swinging off the rope to dive into the lake, which was one of his tamer enjoyments.  He was, indeed, a very loyal friend.  All knew that he loved music and his eclectic taste ranged from AC/DC, Elvis Presley, country to Mexican (mariachi) music. He would listen to them all loudly.

Tony is survived by his mother, Amelia Villela of Crystal Lake, Iowa, his son Skylar Faust of Clear Lake, Iowa, his four sisters: Diana Vasques (Britt, Iowa), Veronica Pedersen (Crystal Lake, Iowa), Yvonne Christian (Denver, Colorado), Miroslava Hart (Mason City, Iowa) as well as nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his father, Antonio Villela Sr. and his grandparents.
