Obituary

Arthurine V. (Sime) Haupt, 89, of Dows passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at The Western Home in Cedar Falls.

Memorial services for Arthurine Haupt will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 11:00 AM at First Lutheran Church, 206 West Ellsworth in Dows, with Pastor Laurel Meester officiating. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Dows.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Arthurine Veronica was born on November 12, 1928 to Art and Eunice Sime. She attended country school through junior high and graduated from Dows High School in 1946.

On February 22, 1948 Arthurine was united in marriage to Raymond Haupt. Raymond was drafted into the Army being sent to Korea. After his discharge in 1955, they continued farming. While Raymond was in the service, Arthurine held three jobs, DX Service Station, Rummel Drugstore, and George Bundren International Harvester. Their daughter, Kim, was born in 1955.

Arthurine later worked for Elmer Hanson, Clyde Vedane, and Shannon Muhlenbruch in the insurance business, still working until the age of 87. She was a member of First Lutheran Church where she provided the items needed for their quilting projects. She also bought items for many other charities or for anyone in need. As one of her church friends said, “Her mission in life was to help others.” Arthurine and Raymond loved to dance and continued to dance until his health declined. Her life was well lived, full of family and close friends she loved to spend time with.

Arthurine is survived by her daughter Kim (Don) Foth of Cedar Falls; grandson Brian (Lauren) Foth of Florida; and two granddaughters Lucy and Sophie Foth.

She is preceded in death by her husband in 2012 and parents.
