Carolyn J. Greenwood, 63 of Belmond, passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2018 at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Belmond surrounded by her family.

Memorial services for Carolyn Greenwood will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 304 3rd Avenue North East in Belmond with Pastor Dawn Pederson officiating.

Carolyn Jane Greenwood age 63 passed away at the Belmond Medical Center surrounded by her family on July 29th 2018.

Carolyn was born in Belmond, Iowa to Thomas Greenwood Jr. & Arlene Greenwood. She attended Belmond High School, graduating in 1973. Later she attended Waldorf College (now Waldorf University) in Forest City, Iowa.

She was married in 1974 and that union yielded two children; Noah Reed and Tara Steenhard.

Carolyn worked at PSI in Belmond for several years in the Graphics Art department, drawing and compiling ads for the Marketing Department. Carolyn had a passion for arts and crafts, eventually opening a business in her home manufacturing and selling her “Carolyn’s Creations” to the public. Her proudest work, though, was her time at the Rehabilitation Center of Belmond where she worked as a CNA caring for each person as if they were her family. Near the end of her career she transitioned to an office position that allowed her to help tailor the care to individual resident’s needs. She was very proud of the work she did in this role and hated leaving when she became too ill to work.

Carolyn had a very strong faith and loved attending the services at Trinity Lutheran Church with her friends and family. Her house and yard were very indicative of her passion for creating unique and beautiful displays. She had the talent of turning ordinary items into extraordinary treasures. Late in life, she dedicated a great deal of time spending time with her Grandchildren, hosting sleep overs and camping trips that will not soon be forgotten.

Left to carry on her legacy are her children; Noah and his wife, Mandie Reed of Forest City, and Tara Steenhard of Mason City; her beloved grandchildren and siblings John & Sheila Greenwood of Forest City, and Tim & Rose Greenwood of Altoona, and numerous family and friends.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents Thomas & Arlene Greenwood of Belmond.

Carolyn should be remembered for her beautiful smile, unabashed love for the people in her life, and her unbridled strength in both good times and bad. She left us with peace in her heart and knowledge that she will see us all again.
