Cathern I. (Adams) Meyer

Cathern Meyer, 89, formerly of the Corwith area, passed away Friday, June 10, 2016, at the Kanawha Community Home in Kanawha.

Funeral services for Cathern Meyer will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at 10:30 AM at the Kanawha Christian Reformed Church, 129 East 3rd Street, in Kanawha with Pastor Joel DeBoer officiating. Burial will be at Amsterdam Township Cemetery in Kanawha.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to funeral services at the church on Wednesday.

Cathern Irene (Adams) Meyer was born March 9, 1927 to John and Fern (Bettis) Adams in Colfax, Iowa.  She graduated from Britt High School with the Class of 1944.

On August 29, 1946, Cathern was united in marriage to Marvin Earl Meyer.  The couple lived in the Britt and Corwith areas, where they farmed for more than 40 years.  They stayed on the family farm until moving to the Kanawha Community Home.

Cathern was a member of Kanawha Christian Reformed Church for many years, where she taught Sunday school.

Cathern enjoyed quilt making, cooking, vegetable and flower gardening and playing piano.  She was a loving wife and mother and a great neighbor.

Cathern is survived by her son Randy (Carolynn) Meyer of Deer Trail, Colorado; grandchildren Kaitlyn (Jacob) Eustice of Henderson, Colorado and Jason Meyer and children Kameron and Sophia of Deer Trail; along with other extended family members and friends.

Cathern was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marvin in 2011, grandchildren Kira and Ryan; great-grandson Kaanan; sisters Dorothy Gifford and Betty Nall and brother John Adams, Jr.
