Cindy (Meyer) VanDusseldorp

Cindy VanDusseldorp, 62, of Britt, Iowa passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt

A funeral service for Cindy VanDusseldorp will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at 1:30 PM at First Lutheran Church in Britt with Pastor Lee Nelson officiating.  Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Britt

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 29, 2010 from 5-7 PM at Ewing Funeral Home, 178 Center Street West.

Cindy, the daughter of Frank and Verna Mae (Edwards) Meyer, was born August 11, 1948, in Algona, Iowa.  She graduated from Corwith-Wesley High School in 1966.

In the fall of 1964, Cindy met her future husband, best friend, and soul-mate, Larry VanDusseldorp.  They were united in marriage on April 27, 1968 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Corwith, Iowa.  The couple made their home in Britt where they raised their three children.

Cindy enjoyed attending her children’s and grandchildren’s activities and going on classic car cruises with Larry in their 1959 Ford.  She also enjoyed having coffee with her girlfriends and reading books on a variety of topics.  Cindy always had a special place in her heart for stray animals and would give many a home throughout the years.

Cindy is survived by her husband of 42 years, Larry VanDusseldorp and children Tammy (Alan) Abbas of Garner, Misty (Doug) Abbas of Britt, and Scott (Angie) VanDusseldorp of Garner; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; siblings: Dave (Carlene) Meyer, Melinda Wickert, Dawn Gray, Sandy (Bruce) Smidt, numerous nieces and nephews, and mother-in-law Nona VanDusseldorp, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Gloria and Wally Mayland.

She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Verna Mae and father-in-law Melvin VanDusseldorp and her beloved pets Shadow, Snoopy, and Tuffy.
