Daryl Durwin Marker, the son of Hans and Winnifred (Poolman) Marker, was born September 2, 1936 in Clarion, Iowa. Daryl attended school in Dows and Goldfield, and graudated from Eagle Grove High School in 1956. He then enlisted in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged after serving his country for four years.

After traveling the world, Daryl came home and married Linda Schweppe on October 29, 1960 at Vincent. To this union, three children were born, Teryl, Tod, and Tina. As a family, together they enjoyed fishing trips to Minnesota and closer to home, the gravel pit across the road.

Daryl was a farmer in every sense of the word. As a child he grew up milking cows, and after marriage, raised hogs. He passed down his knowledge to the next generation who continues to farm the family land. When he wasn’t farming, Daryl kept his hands busy with various projects. He guided and helped all three children remodel their homes.

Keeping a sharp mind, Daryl could do 1,000 piece puzzle in one day. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and teaching them how to win a hand of poker. Daryl enjoyed helping others and would extend a helping hand to anyone.

He will be missed for his knowledge, slight teasing, and being able to fix anything. Daryl was always on time and knew when it was time to go.

Daryl is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda; children Teryl Marker of Woolstock, Tod Marker of Ames, and Tina (Wendell) Larson of Alta; grandchildren Josh, Andy and Niki Marker and Tyler, Alex, and Jessica Larson; great-grandchildren Ayrianna and TaeShawn; sister Delores (Gene) Ryerson; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Daryl was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Darwin and his wife, Beverly, and Donnie and his wife, Shirley.
