Deanna M. (Noelck) Miller

Deanna Mae (Noelck) Miller, 74-years-old, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 15, 2016 at the Belmond Hospital surrounded by family. Her enormous strength coupled with her love of family, friends and faith carried her through her two and a half month battle with cancer.

Memorial services for Deanna Miller will be held on Monday, October 17, 2016 at 7:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion, with Mr. Stan Watne officiating.

Visitation for Deanna Miller will be held on Monday, October 17, 2016 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Home in Clarion.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at 11:30 AM at Nishnabotna Cemetery in Manilla, Iowa.

Deanna Mae Miller was born on May 15, 1942 to Elmer Noelck and Inez (Jurgens) Noelck in Audubon County, Iowa. She was the oldest of 2 children. She grew up on a farm in rural Audubon County, Iowa. She attended school in Gray and graduated from AR-WE-VA High School in Westside, Iowa. She graduated from AIB School of Business in Des Moines, Iowa.

Deanna married her best friend and love of her life, Robert Miller, on June 9, 1963. They resided in Westside, then Carroll, Iowa before moving in the fall of 1967 to Galt, Iowa to make their home and raise their family. Deanna worked as a CNA at the Dows Care Center, a Teacher-Aide at Dows Grade School, in the warehouse at Meredith Corporation/NeoData in Clarion, then Farm and Home Publishing in Belmond Iowa. Deanna also has been an active city council person in Galt, Iowa.

Robert and Deanna shared a passion for dancing, which is how they met. They would go dancing at dance halls from Storm Lake to Des Moines. Polka, Jitterbug, Two-Step, and Waltz were some of their favorites. They shared that love with their children, who learned how to dance when they were very young. Family weddings and anniversaries were a commonplace for our family to enjoy dancing with relatives and friends.

Deanna enjoyed putting together puzzles, reading books, playing cards (picking up the pile in Canasta), going to sporting events of her grandkids, gardening, feeding the birds and squirrels, family get-togethers and holidays gatherings.

Deanna is survived by her Husband of 53 years, Robert L. Miller of Galt, Iowa, 5 children; Son Mark (Laura) Miller of Ham Lake, MN, Daughter Mary Miller of Buffalo, MN, Daughter Dawn (David) Keller of Clarion, Iowa, Daughter Amy (Steve) Lamb of Houghton Lake, MI, and son Guy (Dawn Ann) Miller of Fort Dodge, IA; 12 Grandchildren: Sarah (Tim) Yockey, Stacey (Nik) Skripnik, Justin Arteman, James (Sarah) Lamb, Abby Miller, Nathaniel Holmes, Alexandra Keller, Megan Miller, Jacob Miller, Emma Keller, Michael Miller, Hope Miller. 3 Great Grand Children: Ryan Yockey, Nolan Yockey, Lucas Lamb.

Deanna was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Inez Noelck; her husband Robert’s parents Guy and Mabel Miller; two sons: Stephan Miller and Randy Miller; and one grandchild Ryan Lamb.
