Eugene L. Keller

Gene Keller, 75, of Britt, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2003, at his home in rural Britt.

Gene, the son of Joseph and Lila (Kane) Keller, was born February 1, 1928, in Miller, South Dakota.  He grew up in the Miller area where he attended country schools.  Gene moved to the Britt area in 1957, where he was engaged in business as an electrical contractor with Martin Thompson.  On April 1, 1981, Gene established Keller Electric; he continued to operate his business until the time of death.

On June 23, 1968, Gene was united in marriage with Ethel Riekens at the Methodist Church in Winnebago, Minnesota.  The couple has since made their home in Britt.

Gene enjoyed caring for his vegetable and flower garden, playing pool and drawing horses.

Gene is survived by his wife, Ethel of Britt; one stepson Bob Riekens and his wife, Cindy, of Albert Lea, Minnesota; seven step grandchildren; several great grandchildren; three sisters: Maxine Thompson of Britt, Theresa Eschenbaum, and husband, Lester of Miller, South Dakota, LuVay Cana;e of Portland, Oregon; three brothers: Don Keller and his wife, Alice of Miller, South Dakota, Leon Keller and his wife, Terri of Miller, South Dakota, Keith Keller and his wife, Pat of Parker, Colorado; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Evelyn and brother Carl.
