Obituary


Eva Kluver, 97, of Crystal Lake, Iowa passed away Friday, October 31, 2003, at the Westview Care Center in Britt.

Eva, was born January 12, 1906, in Grimes, Iowa the eldest of John and Maggie McClain's 13 children.  The family moved to Lawrence, South Dakota where Eva's parents farmed for several years before returning to the Crystal Lake area.  Eva graduated from Crystal Lake High School in 1925.

On October 12, 1927, Eva was united in marriage with Glen Kluver in Britt, Iowa; to this union six children were born.  The couple farmed in the Crystal Lake area until 1954, when Eva and Glen retired and moved to Crystal Lake.

Eva made her family her first priority and supported them in their activities; she was a 4-H leader for several years and served as President of the Crystal Lake PTA.  Her church was also very important to her, she was a member of the Crystal Lake United Methodist Church for more than 80 years; where she was also a member of the United Methodist Women and circle groups and held numerous offices. Eva also volunteered numerous hours at Duncan Heights.

Eva is survived by her four children: Morris Kluver and his wife, Janice of Britt, Merle Kluver of Garner, Eleanor Kluver of Crystal Lake, and Glenys Bird and her husband, Dale of McHenry, Illinois; twelve grandchildren: Jim and Emily Kluver of San Diego, California, Kent and Paula Kluver of Manchester, Lynn and DeEtta Kluver of Britt, Julie and Doug Verley of Canton, South Dakota, David and Nancy Irons of Independence, Kentucky, Tim and Sue Irons of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Bruce and Marcia Kluver of Britt, Kevin and Vicky Kluver of Lake St. Louis, Missouri, Tracy Kluver of Cedar Falls, Toni and Bryan Williams of Clear Lake, Sara and Charlie Anderson of De Pere, Wisconsin, Jennifer and Barton Young of Vero Beach, Florida; twenty great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; one brother Austin McClain and his wife, Kay of Waseca, Minnesota; three sisters: Beulah Brue and her husband, Ernest, Wilma Harang and her husband, Kermit, and Blanche Grunhovd and her husband, Kermit all of Lake Mills; son-in-law Dick Irons of Las Cruces, New Mexico; sisters-in-law: Grace Kluver of Crystal Lake and Amy McClain Jamtgaard of Clear Lake; brother-in-law Lenard Waage of Forest City, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Glen in 1982; an infant son, James; a daughter, Evelyn Irons; a great grandson; four brothers: Bill, Johnnie, Andrew and George McClain; and four sisters: Margaret Johnson, Ethel Waage, Velma Halverson and Velva Bang Miller.
