Obituary


Evelyn Lillian Holck, 78, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2000 at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Eveyln Lillian (Wellik) Holck was born July 25, 19922 to Frank G. and Lillian (Hejlik) Wellik on a farm in Liberty Township.  On October 4, 1944, she married Lloyd Holck at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Duncan.  They farmed north of Britt from 1944 until 1954.

After moving to town Evelyn did ironing for people, worked as a school cook at the grade school for 8 years, and did janitor work at St. Patrick's Catholic Church.  Evelyn also worked at the Kum & Go making donuts in the early morning hours.

Evelyn's interests included her flower garden, crocheting, embroidering, making quilts for her grandchildren and having coffee with her friends at Mary Jo's Hobo House.  She took much joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Evelyn was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Britt, the Ladies Guild, and the Duncan Catholic Workman.

She is survived by her children: Arlene Christensen and her husband, Jerry of Britt, Larry and his wife, Corinne of Clear Lake, Tom and his wife, Sharon of Quincy, Illinois, and Mary Ryckman and her husband, Don of West Des Moines; nine grandchildren: Bill Holck, Amy Christensen, Casey Holck, Ryan Holck, Brad Ryckman, Steve Holck, Brian Ryckman, Kevin Holck, and Ian Holck,; two great-grandchildren: Malory and Benjamin Holck; her mother Lillian Wellik; three sisters: Marie Loebig of Mason City, Rose Hughes and her husband, Tom of Britt, and Marcella Doughan of Algona; one brother Frank E. Wellik and his wife Shirley of Britt, and one sister-in-law Arlene Wellik of Woden.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Holck (October 6, 1996), her father, one brother, and two brothers-in-law.
