Obituary


Gregory A. Herzberg, 57, of Clarion passed away Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion.

Funeral services for Gregg Herzberg will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at the Clarion Church of Christ, 420 North Main Street in Clarion, with Pastor Warren Curry officiating.  Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Gregory Allen Herzberg was born on September 1, 1957 to Virgil and Betty (Nicholas) Herzberg in Shenandoah, Iowa.  Gregg graduated from Clarion High School in 1976. He worked as a mechanic for various implement dealerships, starting out at Helland and Long Implement in Belmond.

Gregg married Janelle Miller on August 18, 1979 in Fertile, Iowa, and they had three children in their marriage: Chad, Amy, and Casey.  The couple later divorced.

Every Monday night you could find Gregg watching WWE Wrestling.  He also enjoyed doing yard work, Harley-Davidson, eating food, and especially spending time with his grandchildren.

Gregg will be remembered as a well rounded person, who was loving to all, including strangers.  He was always willing to lend a helping hand and had an especially strong bond with his mother.

Gregg is survived by his children, Chad (Kari) Herzberg, and their children Christian and Brylie; Amy (Dustin) Schwering, and their children Hannah and Jacob; and Casey Herzberg, and his children, Sierra and McKenzie; his mother Betty Herzberg; his sister Brenda (Chris) Carpenter, and their child Nick; his brother Kevin Herzberg, and his children Kole and Kaylee; along with many relatives and friends.

Gregg is preceded in death by his father Virgil Herzberg; infant son Kent Virgil Herzberg; and his grandparents, Oscar and Ethel Herzberg and Clyde and Dagmar Nicholas.
