Obituary


Henry Huisinga, 89, of Clarion passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at his home.

Funeral services for Henry Huisinga will be held at 2:30 PM on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at First Lutheran Church, 420 First Street North West in Clarion, with Pastor Bill Kem officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 22, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Henry Huisinga was born on October 22, 1926 to Jacob and Tillie Huisinga on the farm in rural Kamrar. Henry’s education was cut short after the 8th grade so that he could help support the farm.

Henry enlisted in the Army in 1950 and served overseas during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1957.

Henry and his brother Alfred owned part of the Huisinga Peterson Construction until he decided to go back to farming.

Henry loved attending auctions in and around the local area; they were his entertainment and way of socializing. He also enjoyed morning coffee with friends at Hardees.

Henry is survived by his son: Henry Huisinga of Clarion; grandchildren: Kaitlyn Huisinga-Munro and Chad Stamps of Des Moines, Kelly Huisinga of Des Moines, and Samuel Huisinga of Clarion; his brother: Alfred Huisinga of Webster City, and numerous family members and friends.

Henry is preceded in death by his wife Anna Huisinga, his parents, and his siblings: Joe, Herman, Gerhard, Bernard, Bertha, Emery, Gertie, and Willie Huisinga.
