Obituary
John Verbrugge, 97, of Kanawha passed away Sunday February 7, 2010 at the Kanawha Community Home in Kanawha.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. at the Kanawha Christian Reformed Church with Pastor Steve Schulz officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Wright Christian Reformed Church near Kanawha when snow conditions permit.
John, the son of Frank and Martha Heijnskijk, was born November 22, 1912 on a farm near Kanawha. He attended rural schools near Kanawha.
He was employed by several area farmers and later worked for the city of Kanawha. He also assisted with Congregate Meals, served as janitor at the Kanawha Post Office and was willing to do various odd jobs when called upon.
John was a member of the Kanawha Christian Reformed Church.
John is survived by one sister-in-law, Mrs. Joe (Thelma) Verbrugge of Mason City, Iowa and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and all of his brothers and sisters: Adrian Verbrugge, Heis Verbrugge, Mauda Abbas, Pauline Crawford, Marie Verbrugge, Pete Verbrugge, and Joe Verbrugge.
