Obituary


Lucille Hoveland, 92, formerly of Clarion and Renwick, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014, at Bethany Manor in Story City.

Funeral services for Lucille Hoveland will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at 2:00 PM at the First Lutheran Church, 420 1st Street North West in Clarion with Pastor Ron Nelson officiating.  Burial will be at Amsterdam Township Cemetery in Kanawha at a later date.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday.

Lucille was born July 13, 1921 to Carl and Paulina (Tjeranson) Nerem in Renwick.  She attended and graduated from Renwick High School.

Lucille began working at Quaker Oats in Renwick after graduation.  On May 15, 1943, she was united in marriage to Marion Hoveland in Eagle Grove.  To this marriage, four children were born.  The couple farmed near Renwick until November of 1974, when they retired.

Lucille loved to cook and bake, especially traditional Norwegian recipes.  She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed embroidery.

Lucille was a lifelong Lutheran, and was very devout in her faith.

Lucille is survived by her children, Beverly Zimmer of Ankeny, Eilene (Richard) Elliott of Lake Cornelia, Michael (Judy) Hoveland of Stratford and Kimberly (Olene) Hanson of Ellsworth; eleven grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marion in 1987, one sister and five brothers.
