Obituary

Luella J. Hughes, 93, of Kanawha passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2003, at Kanawha Community Home in Kanawha, Iowa.

Luella Julia (Minor) Hughes was born on August 26, 1910, the daughter of Ormal and Julia (Shurson) Minor, at her family's home southwest of Kanawha.  She attended country school in rural Kanawha.

Luella was a very dedicated farm wife who spent time tending to her strawberry patch and was known for the wonderful Kringla she made.  She also loved to quilt with her friends at the Kanawha Lutheran Church where she was a faithful member.

Luella entered the Kanawha Community Home in November of 2000, where she remained active visiting with the residents, staff, and watching the animals in the yard outside her window.
