Margy A. (Hartzell) Darling

Margy A. (Hartzell) Darling, 82, of Britt passed away on Monday, March 20, 2017 at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.

Visitation for Margy Darling will he held from 4:00 – 6:00 PM on Friday, April 21, 2017 at Ewing Funeral Chapel, 178 Center Street West in Britt.  Memorial services and burial will be private.

Margy Ann Darling was born January 25, 1935 to Clarence and Lottie (Ellsworth) Hartzell in Britt, Iowa. She graduated from Britt Community School in 1953 and later La James College of Cosmetology.

Margy owned and operated Hair Trends by Darling in Britt for 10 years. She later spent time working at Winnebago and Eaton Corporation before relocating to Mesa, Arizona where she lived and worked for 14 years before returning to Britt in November of 2015. She had turned into a veritable institution at the Mesa Market Place and Swap Meet where she met and made many friends.

Margy is survived by 3 special nephews and their families: Gary Gjerstad of Britt, Iowa, Ron & Cindy Gjerstad of Jackson, Missouri, and Curt & Kristi Gast of Britt, Iowa; great-nieces and nephews Garrett & Marianne Gjerstad of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Kelsey & John Koenig and kids from St. Charles, Missouri, Heather & Mike Francis and kids from Cedar Falls, Iowa, Brent & Tara Gast and kids from Cedar Falls, Iowa, Ashley & Chris Hejlik and kids from Altoona, Iowa and Robert Goerish, USMC - San Diego, as well as many more nieces, nephews, friends and co-workers.

Margy was preceded in death by her husband Eldon Darling, parents Clarence & Lottie Hartzell, sisters Elaine Hartzell, Betty Klass, Zola Phy, Frances Gast and brother Clarence Hartzell Jr.
