Obituary


Marie Albertina Hilpipre, age 96 of Clarion passed away Monday, April 23, 2012, at Careage of Clarion.

Funeral services for Marie Hilpipre will be held on Friday, April 27, 2012, at 10:30 AM at the First United Methodist Church, 201 3rd Avenue North East, in Clarion with Pastor Don Morrison officiating.  Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2012, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Home, 602 North Main Street, in Clarion and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Marie Hilpipre, the daughter of Charles A. and Lena R. (Derkas) Borel, was born on September 27, 1915, on a farm near Woolstock.  After graduating from high school in 1933, she completed the normal training course at State Teachers College in Cedar Falls and taught in the same rural school she first attended in Woolstock Township.  She later taught at Wall Lake Township school.

Marie was united in marriage to Raymond Hilpipre on September 11, 1939.  They resided on a farm in Lincoln Township.  After his death, she moved to Clarion in 1987.  She enjoyed working on the farm and liked to share produce from her garden with family and friends. Marie was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a past member of Eastern Star and White Shrine.  She was a 4-H leader and served on the Wright County Extension Council.

Raymond and Marie went fishing whenever they could break away from their farm work.  Marie enjoyed traveling, playing cards and quilting.  She looked forward to seeing her grand and great grandchildren.

Marie is survived by her children, Sharon (Terry) Evans of Clarion and Harvey (Karen) Hilpipre of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Susan (Rob) Meade, Diahann (Mark) Russell; Amy (Brad) Billingsley, Jeni (Tom) Wright; great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Taylor, Ryan, Maya, Piper, Reese, and Jack; sisters, Gladys Blakesley, Josephine Howell, Blanche Tuttle and brother, Don Borel.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Raymond, and brothers, Edward (deceased in infancy), Martin, and John.
