Obituary


Mary Eleanor Huntley, 85, of Clarion passed away Wednesday August 27, 2008 at Careage of Clarion in Clarion after a hard fought battle with cancer.  Five days shy of her 86th birthday.

Funeral services for Eleanor Huntley will be held Saturday August 30, 2008 at 10:30 AM at St. John’s Catholic Church in Clarion with Rev. Msgr. John W. Hemann officiating.  Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.  

Visitation for Eleanor Huntley will be held on Friday August 29, 2008 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Home in Clarion with a vigil service held at 6:45 PM followed by a rosary.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.  

Mary Eleanor (Wagoner) Huntley was born on September 1, 1922 in Kanawha, Iowa to Dale and Nora (Cosgriff) Wagoner.  She attended Kanawha High School and was united in marriage to Oliver Huntley on January 1, 1940.  The couple was blessed with four children and the family lived in Renwick until they moved to Clarion in 1965.

Eleanor was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church.  She enjoyed a lengthy and rewarding career with Stanley Home Products from 1956 until the time of her death.  During her time with Stanley Home Products, Eleanor forged many long-lasting customers, and more importantly, precious and enduring friendships.

For the last seven years, Eleanor resided at the Meadows where she met old friends and made many new friends.  Eleanor’s joy in life was her children, grandchildren, friends and the St. Louis Cardinals.

Eleanor is survived by her four children:  Michael (Bonnie) Huntley of Orno, Minnesota, Douglas (Lori) Huntley of Belmond, Cecile (Richard) Peddicord of Belmond and Shelley (Myron) Pohlman of Clarion; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters:  Agnes Wagoner, Marguerite McCracken and Trescella Gorton; grandson, Trent Huntley; and great granddaughter Myranda Jergenson.

  Eleanor will be most remembered for her kind heart and beautiful smile.
