Obituary


Mary L. Hobscheidt, 69, of Corwith passed away Saturday, March 7, 2015.

A Memorial Mass for Mary Hobscheidt will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 403 East Street South in Wesley with Father Peter Nguyen officiating.  Burial will take place at a later date.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wesley with a Rosary service at 4:30 and a Scriptural Wake service beginning at 7:00 PM.

Mary Louise (Knutson) Hobscheidt was born February 5, 1946 to Arthur and Eleanor (Bloomquist) Knutson at Goldfield, Iowa.

Mary graduated from Webster City High School with the class of 1964.  Following graduation, Mary began working at a bank in Fort Dodge.

Mary was united in marriage to John Hobscheidt, Jr. on June 17, 1967 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Corwith.  She and John lived their entire married life on a farm south of Corwith.

Mary was employed at the Corwith State Bank and at Iowa State Bank in Algona.

Mary enjoyed raising her family and attending all of her children’s and grandchildren’s activities.

Mary was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wesley.

Mary is survived by her husband John of Corwith; children Matthew (Christie) Hobscheidt and their daughter Claire of Corwith, Amy (Ron) Main and their children Carly and Colton Main of Buffalo Center, and Ann (Wade) Hinders and their children Evan and Avery Hinders of Britt; brother Roger Halliday of Webster City; sister Karen (Marvin) Andersen of Humboldt; sisters-in-law Janice Knutson of Humboldt and Judy Hobscheidt of Thousand Palms, California.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, step-father John Halliday, brother James Knutson, father-in-law John Hobscheidt, Sr. and mother-in-law Mary Katherine Hobscheidt.
