Michael D. Hollingshead

Michael D. Hollingshead, 55, of Titonka, formerly of Eagle Grove, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics surrounded by his loved ones.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Barn Shelter at Briggs Woods Park, 2490 Briggs Woods Trail in Webster City, Iowa.

Michael Dean Hollingshead, the son of Wayne and Velma (Faulkner) Hollingshead, was born on January 14, 1962 in Webster City. On August 8, 1986, Mike was united in marriage to Rhonda Wagner in Colorado Springs, Colorado. After their marriage, the couple lived and raised their family in Eagle Grove where Mike worked as a custodian for the Eagle Grove Community School District for many years.

Mike enjoyed fishing, building wood projects, and being outdoors. His favorite summer activity was tending to his garden and canning fresh tomato juice for his famous chili. He was happy to teach his daughters his secret recipe this fall. Most of all, Mike enjoyed time spent with his three children and his beloved dog, Floppy. Mike was a kind, fun-loving man that appreciated the simple pleasures of life.

Mike is survived by his children, Josh (Irina) Hollingshead of Boulder, Colorado, Kelsey (Sam) Beenken of Buffalo Center, Iowa, and Lacey Hollingshead (Andrea Neece) of Le Mars, Iowa; his friend, Rhonda Hollingshead of Webster City, Iowa; a sister, Kim (Steve) Johnson of Webster City, Iowa; brothers, Steve Hollingshead of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Don (Luana) Hollingshead of Williams, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.
