Obituary


Patricia Holmes, 86, of Clarion passed away Thursday, December 16, 2010 at the Kanawha Community Home in Kanawha.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, December 20, 2010 at St. John’s Catholic Church, 608 2nd Avenue NE in Clarion, with Reverend Nils Hernandez officiating. Burial will be at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Clarion. 

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 19, 2010 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Home, 602 North Main Street, in Clarion where a Rosary will be said at 4:00 PM.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Patricia Holmes was born December 14, 1924, in Clarion, to H. R. and Helen (Brown) Carr. She attended St. John Catholic School and Clarion High School. She graduated from Clarion High School in 1942.

Patricia and Kenneth J. Holmes were married on March 21, 1945. They lived in the Eagle Grove and Goldfield area for most of the lives.

Patricia worked at the Birdsell Law Firm, the Wright County Assessors Office, the Goldfield Community School, and at the John Henneberry Law Office in Eagle Grove. Patricia was a certified professional legal secretary.

Patricia was a member of the St. John Catholic Church and a member of St. Rose Circle. She was a talented pianist and played the violin in high school. She encouraged all four of her sons to play an instrument or sing.

Patricia enjoyed playing cards, reading, gardening, and square dancing. She and Kenneth were proud that all four sons attended and graduated from college.

Patricia is survived by her four sons: Ron (Roberta), John (Pat), Russell, and Jerry (Doris); ten grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, and a brother, Tom Carr.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Kenneth, one grandson, Marc, and her sister Delores Champlin.
