Obituary


Robert “Bob” Anderson, 93 of Mason City, formerly of Britt, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Funeral services for Bob Anderson will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church, 707 4th Street Southwest in Britt, with Pastor Robert Dodge officiating. Burial will be held in Evergreen Cemetery in Britt.

Visitation for Bob Anderson will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018 from 9:00 – 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Britt.

Robert W. Anderson was born November 9, 1924 to Ralph and Lavina (Blanchen) Anderson in rural Britt, where he was raised.

Bob was united in marriage to Joyce M. Palmer on September 4, 1941 in Bethany, Missouri. Bob and Joyce made their home on the family farm south of Britt, where they farmed until retiring in 1990, when they moved into town.

Bob and Joyce began spending winters in Florida during the early 1970s. Bob also enjoyed golfing, bowling and attending farm sales. He loved woodworking, and was well known for his skills with a scroll saw, making countless gifts for family and friends over the years.

Bob was a lifelong member of the Britt United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Britt Lions Club, and served on the board of the Hancock County Junior Fair for several years.

Bob will be remembered for being loving and giving. He was quiet and reserved, and was never known to say a harsh word about anyone.

Bob is survived by his children, Gary (Sally) Anderson of Mason City, Greg (Leaann) Anderson of Clarion, Gerald (Jodi) Anderson of Britt and Gayle (Dean) Law of Blaine, Minnesota; grandchildren Brent (Sherri) Anderson and family, Brad (Kelly) Anderson and family, Lyndi Anderson, Casey (Chelsey) Anderson and family, Carlie (David) Wagner and family, Joshua (Sara) Fox and family, Ali (Matt) Benson and family, and Whitney (Bryan) Bennett and family; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sister Darlene Olson of Laramie, Wyoming; brother Glen Anderson of Ottumwa; sister-in-law Val Anderson of Garner; along with numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife Joyce in 2011, daughter Judy in infancy, brother Dale Anderson, sister-in-law Jackie Anderson and brother-in-law Gary Olson.
