Obituary


William Wason, 81, of Clarion, passed away Friday, August 11, 2017 at the Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion.

Funeral services for Bill Wason will be held on Monday, August 14, 2017 at 11:30 AM at the United Presbyterian Church, 219 1st Street Northwest in Clarion, with Pastor Bill Kem officiating. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until 11:30 AM prior to services at the church on Monday.

William “Bill” Wason was born in Goldfield on March 17, 1936 to Maggie and Louis Claude. He went to live with his aunt Emma and uncle George Wason when he was three months old after his mother died, and was later adopted by them.

On April 19, 1963, Bill was united in marriage to Karen Lesher at the Presbyterian Church in Clarion. The couple celebrated their 54th anniversary this year.

Bill enjoyed going fishing with his son Scott along the river bank, and taking Scott bowling.

Bill is survived by his wife Karen Wason; son Scott Wason; grandchildren Zachary, Katelyn, and Jacob Wason; great-grandson Ryan Wason; brothers Wilbur Wason and Bud (Jenny) Claude; sister Betty Klatt; sister-in-law Gloria Wiemann; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father Claude; his mother and father Wason; sisters Dorothy, Wilna, and Leota; brother Russel Claude; sister-in-law Beverly Wason; and niece Diane Wason.
