Obituary
Winifred Hughes, 90, of Britt, passed away Saturday, February 26, 2000 at Westview Care Center in Britt, Iowa.
Winifred the daughter of Moody and Hattie (Tisue) Gilmore was born January 30, 1920 in Norfolk, Nebraska. At an early age, she moved with her family to Britt. She grew up in Britt and attended the Britt Schools.
Winifred was united in marriage to Leo Hughes on February 3, 1931 at St. Patrick's Parsonage in Britt. The couple lived in Britt their entire lives.
Winifred is survived by one son, Tom and his wife, Rose of Britt; four daughters, Mary Lewerenz of Santa Clara, California, Coleen Davison and her husband, Joe of Mary Esther, Florida, Michele Horstman and her husband, Bob of Britt and Kathryn Smith and her husband Paul of Britt; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and one brother Forrest Gilmore of Trenton, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leo in 1976, one son-in-law Clifton Lewerenz and five sisters.
