Obituary


Agnes A. (Anderson) Hendrickson passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion. Funeral Service for Agnes Hendrickson will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at 1:00 PM at First United Methodist Church, 201 3rd Avenue North East in Clarion with Reverend Mike Gudka officiating. Burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion. Agnes was born to Arthur and Sylvia (Benson) Anderson on August 6, 1937. She attended Clarion High School and graduated with the class of 1955. She continued her education at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge where she earned her Associates Degree in Accounting. This achievement allowed her to further her career as a bookkeeper for PALCO Manufacturing in Clarion where she worked for over 20 years. To earn extra income in addition to her full-time career, Agnes cleaned businesses, walked beans, detasseled corn, and continued her employment with Oaks Garden Spot to the end. She was married to Henry Hendrickson on June 29, 1957 at the First United Methodist Church in Clarion. Two children, Cynthia and Matthew were born to this union before their divorce. Agnes’ passion for creativity shone brightly through her crafts. She enjoyed many hobbies including wood crafts, painting, and sewing. Some favorites she made were homemade chicken and noodles, banana bars, and puppy chow, which never failed to please her family. She will be remembered by her unparalleled work ethic, strong independence, and dedication to her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She is survived by daughter, Cynthia (James) Timm, their son, Jeffrey (Sarah) Timm and their daughters Layla and Maren; son, Matthew (Cynthia) Hendrickson and their children, Karen-Lynn (Damien Smith) Hendrickson and their son Oliver, and Duncan Hendrickson; sisters Delores and June; brother Gary; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; ex-husband Henry; sisters Patricia, Leona, Lucille; and brother, Bernard. “There are heights of joy that I may not reach till I rest in peace with thee” – I am Thine O Lord
