Ruth E. Anderson

Ruth E. Anderson, 88, of Clarion passed away Thursday, June 19, 2008 at Careage of Clarion.

Funeral services for Ruth E. Anderson will be held Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Clarion with Pastor Gary Boen officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 23, 2008 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Ewing Funeral Home, 602 North Main, in Clarion and continue one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.

Ruth Elizabeth Anderson, the daughter of Jerome and Marguerite (Sheppler) Sheffield, was born on September 27, 1919. Ruth was raised in the Clarion area and graduated from Clarion High School.

Ruth met her future husband, Charles Anderson, at the Lake Cornelia skating rink. The two were united in marriage on November 18, 1939 at the Lutheran Parsonage in Eagle Grove, Iowa. After they were married, Ruth ad Charles made their home on a farm north of Holmes where she lived until she moved into the Meadows.

Ruth was a member of the First Lutheran Church where she was active in the Ruth Circle and the Church Sewing Ladies. She was also a member of the Friendly Neighbor Club.

Ruth was an avid gardener, an excellent cook and a skilled seamstress. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.

Ruth is survived by her children: Ron (Linda) Anderson of Clarion; Larry (Shorty) Anderson of Clarion; and Jan Ryerson (Ed Acela) of Ames; grandchildren: Scott (Melinda) Anderson, Monty (Spook) Anderson, Randy (Andrea) Anderson, Angi Anderson, Kim Anderson, Dana Ryerson, Stacie (Scott) Cochran and Julie Ryerson; great grandchildren: Ethan, Kaia, Dillon, Kelsey, Ryan, Navan, Reed and Randi Rae; sister-in-law Marie Sheffield of Clarion; along with several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband Charles in 1994; brother Francis; and an infant brother.
