Kathryn P. Wade

Kathryn P. (Dorr) Wade, 71, of Mason City, IA., passed away at the Mercy Medical Center of North Iowa on January 1, 2016.

Memorial services were held on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Dugger Funeral Home in Belmond. Burial took place in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Belmond.

Kathryn was the first child born to Maxine and Paul Dorr, on February 10,1944, in Belmond, IA. Kathryn grew up in Belmond, where she attended and graduated from Belmond High School.

She attended Iowa State University, moved to Des Moines, where she worked. She moved to Jacksonville, Fl, where she met the love of her life, Robert Wade. She was married to Robert on July 6, 1973, in Salt Springs, Fl. They lived in a number of places in Florida, enjoying careers in bar ownership, banking, and crafting. In 1991, the couple moved back to Belmond, where she started Kathi's Workshop on Main Street. Kathryn was an incredibly skilled artist, with painting, quilting, sewing teddy bears and handbags, beading, porcelain doll making and costume design.

Kathryn is survived by 2 sisters; Rita (Sterling) Laaveg of Scottsdale, AZ. and Pat Mennenga of Mason City, IA, and step-children Debbie (Steve) James of Citra, Florida, Brian Wade of California; Roger of Jacksonville, Florida, and Cara (Tom) Maple of Virginia, sixteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by husband,Robert Wade, parents Paul and Maxine Dorr, her brother, Kevin and wife Kathy Dorr, and step-daughter Lisa Hill.
