Obituary


Ada Annette Assink, 87, of Kanawha passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at Wright Medical Center in Clarion.

Funeral services for Ada Assink will be held Saturday, March 3, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the Kanawha Christian Reformed Church in Kanawha with Pastor Steve Schulz officiating.  Burial will be in Amsterdam Township Cemetery near Kanawha. 

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 2, 2007 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Ewing Dugger Funeral Chapel in Kanawha and one hour prior to services at the church. 

Ada, the daughter of Henry and Louisa (Riekens) Eekhoff, was born on January 20, 1920 at Wellsburg, Iowa.  At the age of four the family moved to a farm southwest of Kanahwa in Wright County.  She attended country school and Boone  Valley High School.  She made profession of her faith at Wright Christian Reformed Church.  Ada was united in marriage to Henry Assink on August 25, 1949.  The couple farmed southwest of Kanawha until 1982 when they moved into town.

Ada was a member of the Kanawha Christian Reformed Church where she was active in Ladies Aid, Sunday school and Bible studies. Family and friends were important to Ada.  She enjoyed volunteer work and will be remembered for her homemade pies, pillowcase dolls and playing games.

Ada's family also includes 4 brothers: Harold and Ordie Eekhoff, George and Helen Eekhoff, Paul and Jen Eekhoff, Harlan and Deloris Eekhoff; 3 sisters-in-law: Annette Eekhoff, Viola Eekhoff and Dorothy.  Also Paul and Dorothy Assink, Carolyn Ruth Veldhouse, Nettie Assink and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Henry, 3 brothers: Pete, John and Ray Eekhoff; and 4 nephews: Stanley, Mike, Tim and Steve Eekhoff.
