Adolph R. Meinders

Adolph R. Meinders, 93, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2022 at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022 at 2:00 PM at First United Methodist Church, 201 3^rd Avenue North East in Clarion.  Burial will take place at Norway Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.

Adolph Rank, son of Rank and Lottie (Beenken) Meiners, was born on March 13, 1929 at home in Belmond. He attended grade school in Belmond. At age 10, Adolph’s family moved to an acreage southwest of Clarion, where he attended high school. After high school, Adolph worked for a few local farmers.

On October 20, 1949, Adolph was united in marriage to Rose Hiemstra at the Methodist Church parsonage in Clarion. Adolph worked at Conlon’s Bakery while they lived in town before they made their home on the farm in 1951, where they raised their six children. Adolph farmed and raised livestock for 60 years before he retired.

Adolph’s favorite thing to do was to go to farm sales. He would bring home various things to tinker with and fix up. He was always building something or coming up with new ideas.

Adolph is survived by his wife of 72 years, Rose of Clarion; children Thea (Tom) Fitch of Hawaii, Rick (Margaret) Meinders of Idaho, Ardell Meinders of Clarion, Dean (Robin) Meinders of Clarion, and LeAnn Hubbard of Utah; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his son Robert; parents Rank and Lottie Meinders; brothers Daryl and Walter; and sister Caroline.
