Obituary


Agnes Barbara Oborny, 74, passed away Monday, February 24, 1993 at her home in Britt, Iowa.

Agnes, the daughter of Michael and Barbara (Vavrik) Zrostlik, was born January 3, 1918 on a farm near Duncan, were she attended the country schools.

On May 8, 1940, she was united in marriage with Joseph V. Oborny at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Chuch in Duncan.  The couple made their home near Duncan.  In the mid 1940's they moved to Britt.  Agnes was employed in 1963 with the Britt Community Schools hot lunch program and retired as head cook in 1988.

Agnes was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Britt.  She was a member of the Rosary Guild, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and also, the Catholic Workman.  She enjoyed baking for her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph, who passed May 7, 1971; an infant son; two sisters and three brothers.

Agnes is survived by three daughters: Theresa Oborny of Rochester, Minnesota; Marian Malek and her husband, Jerry of Britt, Iowa; Catherine Hrubes and her husband, Brian of Forest City, Iowa; three sons: Francis Oborny and his wife, Marge of Duncan, Iowa, Joseph, Jr. Oborny and his wife, Maria of Whittier, California, Thomas Oborny and his wife, Lucille of Davenport, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; three brothers: Frank Zrostlik and his wife, Emma of Garner, Iowa, Sylvester Zrostlik and his wife, Magda and Pete Zrostlik and his wife, Imogene, all of Britt.
