Obituary


Alfred Johnson, 84, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 1993, at his home.

Alfred was born on November 28, 1908, on a farm near Kanawha, the son of Axel and Taalena (Anderson) Johnson.  He started farming at the age of 14 at home for his mother.

In 1928, he was united in marriage to Nora Williamson at Kanawha.  The couple made their home with his mother for five years. Then the couple moved a half mile from the home place, where they farmed for the next 42 years.  Then they moved to a farm north of the East Twin Lake for ten yeras.  In 1981, they moved into Kanawha, but he continued to farm with his son, Jerry.

He was a member of the Kanawha Lutheran Church, and served on the church board and the Kanawha Nursing Home board.  He pitched kitten ball until the age of 61 for the country team.  For the past 14 years, they wintered in Weslaco, Texas.

Survivors include his wife, Nora Johnson of Kanawha, Iowa; a daughter, Ileene Robinson of Milwaukke, Wisconsin; a son, Jerry and his wife, Veronica Johnson of Kanawha, Iowa; three sisters: Esther Hess of Klemme, Iowa, Ruth Nuehring of Mason City, Iowa and Alice Hummel of Klemme, Iowa; a special niece, Marie Perkins of Klemme, Iowa; 12 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, John, Bert, and Carl, a sister, Nora Perkins, two great-grandchildren, Ryan Johnson and Krystal Robinson.
