Obituary


Alice (Reyna) Stumpf, 75, of Clarion passed away Thursday, September 23, 2010, at Careage of Clarion.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Alice Stumpf will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 10:30 a.m., services will be held at St. John’s Catholic Church in Clarion with Rev. Nils Hernandez officiating, and burial will be at the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Clarion immediately following.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 24, 2010 from 5-7 p.m. at Ewing Funeral Home, 602 North Main Street, in Clarion and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.  A scriptural wake service will take place at 7 p.m. at the funeral home Friday night.

Alice Patricia Stumpf was born May 18, 1935 to Mike Sr. and Mary (Castro) Reyna in Clarion, Iowa.  She was raised in Clarion. Alice graduated from Clarion High School, and attended nursing school in Sioux City.

Alice was united in marriage to Francis Stumpf on July 5, 1957 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Clarion.  To this union, two children, Teresa and Dick, were born.  The family made their home in Clarion, where Alice worked for Dr. Gorrell as a nurse for many years.  Alice later worked as a baby-sitter, at the bowling alley, at Pizza Ranch, and at the 4 Sons.

Alice enjoyed attending all of her grandchildren’s events, cheering on her beloved Hawkeyes, baking, bowling, crocheting, knitting, and cross-stitching.  She also enjoyed picnics with family and friends, and shopping.

Alice was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Alice is survived by her husband, Francis; one daughter Teresa (Scott Nelsen) Eyanson, and one son Dick (Mary) Stumpf, all of Clarion; grandchiildren T.J. (Jen) Stumpf of Clarion, Allie Eyanson of Cedar Falls, Jen (Joe) Sheehan of Clarion, and Jason Stumpf of Clarion; sister Angel Fisher of Ames, brothers John Reyna of Eagle Grove, Mike Jr. (Darlene) Reyna of Slater, Missouri, Rich (the late Vicki) Reyna of Higgonsville, Missouri, Frank (Georgia Ann) Reyna of Walnut, Iowa, Gabe Reyna of Holmes, Joe (Dee) Reyna of Clarion, and Dan (Nancy) Reyna of Clarion; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other family members, and friends.

Alice is preceded in death by her parents and sister Phyllis Waddell.
