Alma T. Janssen, 84, passed away Sunday, August 15, 1993 at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt, Iowa. Alma, the daughter of Anfin and Mary (Shaw) Slattenow, was born December 30, 1908 in Ontaio, Iowa.  She received her education in the Hayfield Schools graduating from High School in 1927.  After graduating she worked as a telephone operator. She was united in marriage with Andrew Janssen in Albert Lea, Minnesota in 1930.  The couple made their home in Crystal Lake where she assisted her husband, in the Seed Corn Business. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Crystal Lake, the United Methodist Women, served as church janitor, and worked with Goodwill. Survivors include a daughter, Sandra and her husband, Tony Buns of Woden, Iowa; a daughter-in-law: Joleen Janssen of California; two grandchildren: David and his wife, Martha Buns of Clinton, Iowa; Wendy and her husband, Clint Jensen of Corwith, Iowa; two great-grandchildren: Ashley and Tucker; a brother: Sanford Slattenow of Waterloo, Iowa; two sisters: Mable Deibler of Waterlook, Iowa; Henrietta Cottington of Crystal Lake, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Andrew in 1982; a son, Richard; three brothers: Orre, James and Cliffored; a sister, Opal Neimeyer and a great-grandson, Weston.
