Obituary


Alvin Alfred Leerar, 68, passed away Saturday, June 18, 1994, at his home in Britt, Iowa.

Alvin, the son of Joseph and Tena (Sweers) Leerar, was born July 11, 1925 on a farm near Stilson.  He attended rural school near Stilson and Corwith High.  Alvin served in the U.S. Navy for two years, spending time in the Hawaiin Islands.

On March 11, 1952 he was united in marriage with Bertha Brunsen at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.  They farmed southwest of Britt.  In 1987 the couple moved to Britt where Alvin worked at Marting Manufacturing as a truck driver until ill health caused him to retire in 1992.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Bertha; three daughters: Joyce Leerar, of Des Moines, Iowa; Judy Carlson and husband, Jerry and their children, Jerrod, Joel and Jackie, of Klemme, Iowa; Jolene Eischen and husband, Alex and this son, Lucas of Wesley, Iowa; two sons: Michael A. and wife, Jeannie of Yuma, Colorado; Thomas, Sr. and wife, Elizabeth and their children, Lauren, Thomas Jr. and Sarah, of Kansas City, Kansas; two sister: Ester Monson, Mason City, Iowa; Carolyn Slagle, Missoula, Montana; three brothers: Jake and wife, Vestus of Corwith, Iowa; Bill and wife, Ann of Crystal Lake, Iowa; Fred and wife, Elsie of Kanawha, Iowa; one brother-in-law: Eppo Gremmer; one sister-in-law: Lula Leerar; and several nieces and nephews.

He leaves to join his parents, two sisters: Hilda Leerar and Ruth Gremmer; two brothers: Edward and Herman; two brothers-in-law: Orvile Slagle and Leonard Monson; one nephew, Lyle Monson; and several great nieces and nephews.
