Anco Baker was born June 4, 1918 on the family farm in Kanawha to Albert and Angelina (Abbas) Baker.

On March 26, 1941, Anco was united in marriage to Pauline Eekhoff in Steamboat Rock, Iowa.  They farmed in the Kanawha area until their retirement. In 1992 Anco and Pauline moved into Kanawha.

Anco was baptized in Kanawha Christian Reformed Church and made profession of faith.  He was an active member of Wright Christian Reformed Church where he served as elder, deacon and Sunday School Superintendent.  He also served on the Kanawha Christian School Board as treasurer.  He was an avid reader and eternal kid at heart.  He enjoyed music and entertained his family with his favorite hymns on his accordion and mouth organ. In recent years he enjoyed spending time with his friends at congregate meals and bowling.  Anco’s greatest joys came from his wife Pauline, his family and his relationship with God.  He was known until the end for the twinkle in his eye.

Anco is survived by his children: Donald (Mim) Baker of Junction City, Oregon; Arnold (Karen) Baker of Newaygo, Michigan; Duane (Debbie) Baker of Chattanooga, Tennessee; Norman (Joyce) Baker of Denver, Colorado; Phyllis (Marvin) Nuehring of Kanawha, Iowa; and Marvin Baker of Janesville, Wisconsin.  He is also survived by his grandchildren: Paul, Lee, Rachel, Brandon, Angela, Daniel, Nathan, Lindsey, James and Sarah and 8 great grandchildren.

Anco was preceded in death by his wife in 1999, his parents, his siblings and their spouses: Jennie (Adrian) DeWaard; Pete (Henrietta), Ed (Stella), George, and Hemmo Baker.
