Andy H. Christians

Andy Henry Christians, 85, passed away Saturday, August 1, 1998, at the Kanawha Community Home in Kanawha, Iowa.

Andy, the son of Henry and Alice (Van Oosting) Christians, was born January 14, 1913, in Wright County near Kanawha, Iowa.  Andy received his education in the Norway Township School District.  After completing his schooling, Andy farmed in partnership first with his father and then his his son, Ronald.  In 1980, Andy and Jennie moved to their present home in Kanawha.

Andy married Thelma (daughter of Art and Dena Rietema) in 1936.  To this union three children were born: Ardith, Ronald and Janet.  On August 13, 1959, Andy married Jennie VanDyken in Bozeman, Montana.

Andy was baptized and made profession of his faith in Jesus Christ at the Wright Christian Reformed Church were he also served as an elder.  He also was a board member of the Kanawha Christian School, the Community School, and the Kanawha Nursing Home.  The Church and his family were most important to him.  He also enjoyed farming, fishing and traveling.

Andy is survived by his wife, Jennie, and three children: Ardith and her husband, Al DeYoung of Crown Point, IN, Ronald and his wife, Virgina of Kanawha, and Janet of Sheldon; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Thelma, and two grandchildren, Jeffery and Troy Christians.
