Anita Augusta Kelling, 93, of Kanawha passed away Monday, August 29, 2005, at
Wright Medical Center in Clarion.
Anita, the daughter of William and Lydia (Knoll) Steinhoff, was born October 22,
1911, in Kanawha. She grew up in the Kanawha area, where she attended Kanawha
Elementary School. She then attended Iowa State University for two years.
Anita taught school in a one-room schoolhouse for six years before she was
married.
On May 23, 1939, Anita married Glen Kelling in Clarion. The couple made their
home and farmed in the Kanawha area where they raised their sons Roger "Jeff"
and Duane. Anita cared for her father when he mother passed away and continued
to care for him until he passed away in 1975. Glen passed away in 1971, and
Anita continued to live on the farm until moving into Kanawha.
Anita loved afternoon green tea and enjoyed going out to eat with friends and
family.
Anita was a member of the United Methodist Church in Kanawha and the United
Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge, CDHS Card Club,
Ladies Country Club, and the Quilters.
Anita is survived by two sons: Roger "Jeff" Kelling and his wife, Suzi of
Phoenix, Arizona and Duane Kelling of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; four grandsons:
Christopher and his wife Amy, Terence, Nicholas and his wife Angela, and
Jonathan and his wife Robyn; four great-grandchildren: Jessica, Logan, Zachery,
and Isabelle; special friends, Wayne and Bev Rietema of Kanawha, and other
relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Glen.
