Obituary


Anna S. Hoadley, 104, passed away Friday, November 6, 1992 at the Kanawha Community Home in Kanawha, Iowa.

Anna, the daughter of August and Ann (Tollefson) Johnson, was born September 25, 1888 at Brevig, Norway.  She came to the United States at the age of 12.  The family settled on a farm in Illinois.  She received her education in the Illinois Community Schools.

In August of 1907, she was united in marriage with Robert Hoadley.  The couple farmed near Emmetsburg, Iowa and later moved to a farm near Kanawha, Iowa.  In 1975 she moved into Kanawha, and in 1988 became a resident of the Kanawha Community Home.

She was a member of the Kanawha Lutheran Church and their Women's groups.  She enjoyed fishing and making afghans.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; three sons: Robert, Howard, and a son, Dale in infancy; two brothers; and one sister.

Survivors include a daughter: Verla Willert of Eagle Grove, Iowa; two daughters-in-law: Julia Hoadley of Elmhurst, Illinois; Pat Hoadley of Clear Lake, Iowa; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; and seven step great-great grandchildren.
