Obituary


Anno Abbas, 94, passed away Friday, November 13, 1992 at the Westview Care Center in Britt.

Anno, the son of Daniel and Nancy (Christians) Abbas, was born March 1, 1898 near Kanawha.  He received his education in the Kanawha country schools.

On February 3, 1921 he was united in marriage with Anna Cooper at her parent's home.  The couple farmed near Kanawha until 1926.  Later they moved to a farm near Woden and in 1961 moved into Britt.  He has been a resident of the Westview Care Center since April of 1990.

He was a member of the Woden Christian Reformed Church and served as an Elder and Sunday School teacher for many years.  He was Hancock County Assessor for 11 years and Hancock County Weed Commissioner for 27 years.  He was also a member of the Britt Christian Reformed Church serving as Elder for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Anna, in 1987; a sister: Faye Swyter; three brothers: Fred, Chris and George.

Survivors include a daughter: Norma and her husband, Donald Tapper of Buffalo Center, Iowa; a son: Kenneth and his wife, Sally Abbas of Des Moines, Iowa; three sisters: Grace Veldhouse of Pella, Iowa; Tena Peters of Kanawha, Iowa; Bena Trenary of Kanawha, Iowa; a brother: Clarence Abbas of Kanawha, Iowa; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
