Obituary
Anthony Bruce Johnson, 51, passed away Saturday, January 18, 1997, at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt, Iowa.
Tony, the son of Gaylen and Delores (Sturgeon) Johnson, was born October 13, 1945 at Clarion, Iowa. He graduated from Kanawha High School in 1963, and attended North Iowa Area Community College and later Iowa State University. During the Vietnam conflict he served with the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Bone Fish Submarine. Following his discharge, he returned to Kanawha.
He was united in marriage with Sherry Fisher on July 19, 1975 at the United Methodist Church in Britt. The couple made their home in Kanawha. Tony was a member of the Kanawha United Methodist Church and the American Legion. He enjoyed sports and playing golf.
Tony is survived by his wife, Sherry, their sons, Travis and his wife, Sue of Grimes; Chad of Jupiter, FL, and Jade of Mason City; his parents, Gaylen and Dolores Johnson of Kanawha; two sisters, Angela and her husband, Kevin Strege of Bakerfield, CA, and Andrea and and her husband, Dennis Mallen of Mason City; and one brother, Todd of Buffalo Center.
He was preceded in death by one grandson and his grandparents.
