Obituary


Antony “Tony” Buns, 70, of Crystal Lake, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2011, at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota

Funeral services for Tony Buns will be held on Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at 3:00 PM at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 302 2nd Street, in Woden with Pastor Robert Wolfert officiating. Burial will be at Bingham Township Cemetery in Woden.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at Ewing Funeral Chapel in Britt and continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Antony "Tony" Buns was born Jan. 6, 1941, in Buffalo Center to Antony and F. Verna (Greenfield) Buns, one of five boys.  Tony was educated in Woden and was a member of the last graduating class of Woden High School in 1959. On Nov. 14, 1959, Tony was united in marriage to Sandra Slattenow at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. To this union two children were born.

Tony began farming with his father during his teenage years and continued farming until his retirement three years ago. He also did excavation work for Bob Buns and Steve Hanna. Tony served on the Woden Co-Op elevator board for several years and served a term as president.  Tony was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Woden and served as a member of the church council.

Tony enjoyed playing cards and the occasional round of golf, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, visiting around a cup of coffee.

Tony is survived by his wife, Sandy of Crystal Lake; his children, David (Martha) Buns of Minneapolis and Wendy (Clint) Jensen of Corwith; grandchildren Ashley DeGeus and significant other Mathew, Tucker Jensen, Preston Jensen, and Bennett Jensen; great-grandchildren Emma, Zadin, Gia and Lexxi; two brothers, James (Dixie) Buns and Maurice (Nancy) Buns; along with numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Tony is preceded in death by his parents, his grandson Weston, great-granddaughter Shaley and brothers Kenneth and Merle.
