Obituary


Arlene B. Rink, 84, of Clarion passed away Sunday, February 22, 2015 at the Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Arlene Rink will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, February 26, 2015, at St. John’s Catholic Church, 608 2nd Avenue North East in Clarion with Father Jerry Blake officiating.  Burial will be held at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Clarion.

Visitation for Arlene Rink will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday, beginning at 9:30 AM.

Arlene Berniece Rink was born August 10, 1930 to Barthel “Bart” and Audrey (Fischer) Rink near Woolstock, the youngest of three children.

Arlene was raised on a farm south west of Clarion and attended country schools until her family moved to Clarion in 1942.  She graduated from Clarion High School with the Class of 1948.

Following high school, Arlene worked for a time in the local five and dime store before beginning a 39 year career working in the Wright County Treasurer’s office.

Arlene was a life-long member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Clarion, where she was a member of the Catholic Daughters and the Altar Society.  Her faith played an important role in her life.

Arlene lived with her parents until their deaths, acting as caretaker for each of them.  She continued to make her home in Clarion, and later became a resident at the Clarion Wellness and Rehabilitation Center in 2009, following a stroke.

Arlene enjoyed going on various trips, playing cards and watching television.  As a resident of the care center, she loved playing bingo.

Arlene is survived by her brother, Virgil Rink and his wife, Jane, of Cedar Falls, along with numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Phyllis Milligan, brother-in-law Paul Milligan, one nephew and one great nephew.
