Arlene “Babe” Jamtgaard, 81, formerly of Crystal Lake, passed away Monday, January 21, 2002 at the Nora Springs Care Center in Nora Springs, Iowa.
Arlene Younie Jamtgaard, the daughter of William and Mabel (Hedden) Younie was born December 21, 1920 at Hawarden, Iowa. She attended school and graduated from the Hawarden school system.
Babe was united in marriage with Orval Jamtgaard on October 8, 1939 in Sioux City, Iowa and moved to Sioux City in December 1939. In February of 1946, the couple moved to Crystal Lake where Orval was a blacksmith while Babe took care of the home and family.
Following Orval’s retirement, the couple wintered in Arizona. Arlene enjoyed bowling and golfing. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for many years.
She is survived by two sons: Orval Gene Jamtgaard, Jr. and his wife, Jan of Nora Springs and John Duane Jamtgaard and his friend, Teresia of Mason City; two grandsons, Michael and Mark; one great-grandson, Joseph; two great-granddaughters Katherine Arlene and Samantha Kay; five nephews and one niece.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Orval in 2000, one brother and two sisters.
