Obituary
Arleta M. Evans, age 96, of Iowa Falls and Dows, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral service was held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 17, 2016 at First Lutheran Church in Dows with Pastor Grant Woodley officiating. Burial took place at Otis Grove Cemetery in rural Dows.
Arleta Mae, daughter of Charlie and Oca (Katsch) Lake, was born on July 7, 1919 on the farm near Buckeye. Arleta attended and graduated from Owasa High School.
On August 12, 1939, Arleta was united in marriage to Don Evans. The couple was blessed with six children: Gary, Roger, Veda Mae, Edward, Charlotte, and Mark. They continued to farm until 1977. After retirement, they bought a motor home and traveled to all 50 states.
Arleta was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family and making sure they always had plenty to eat. Arleta was the glue that held the family together.
Arleta is survived by her three children Roger (Vipa) Evans of Thailand, Charlotte (Mark) Riley of Clive, Mark (Cheri) Evans of Nevada; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister Lois Terry of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Don, sons Edward and Gary, daughter Veda Mae, grandson Riley, two brothers, and two sisters.
