Obituary


Arnold “Arnie” Wayne Engh, 64, of Kanawha passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City.

Funeral services for Arnold Engh will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at 10:30 AM at the Kanawha Lutheran Church, 124 West Fourth Street in Kanawha with Pastors Geoffrey and Char White officiating.  Interment will take place at Amsterdam Township Cemetery in Kanawha.

Visitation for Arnold Engh will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at Ewing Funeral Home, 118 East Second Street in Kanawha, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Arnie was born on November 16, 1949, to Willis and Arlene (Anderson) Engh in Belmond.  He graduated from Kanawha High School in 1968, where he was active in 4-H and FFA. He then attended North Iowa Area Community College where he graduated with a degree in agriculture.  Arnie had a deep love of farming. He continued to live on the family century farm where he enjoyed visits from his children and grandchildren.  He was happiest on his John Deere tractors, whether he was in the field or moving snow.  When he wasn’t in the field, he enjoyed motorcycling, snowmobiling, working on his ‘57 Chevy and watching NASCAR races.

He a member of the Kanawha Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed and also served on the church council in the past.

Arnie is survived by his children, Brandie (Roger) Witte of Rockwell, Billie Jo Shahan of Ackley and Brad (Andrea) Engh of Rockwell; mother, Arlene Engh of Kanawha; grandchildren, Collin, Brett, Katelyn and Nathan Witte, Jaiden and Jenna Shahan and Bryce Engh; special friend, Diane Sipes of Kanawha; brothers, Monte (Vicki) Engh of Ankeny and Doyce (Becky Gayken) Engh of Kanawha and several nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Willis and his grandparents.
