Obituary


Arthur Homervold age 85, of Clarion passed away Saturday, May 21, 2005 at the Wright Medical Center in Clarion.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 Thursday, May 26, 2005 at the First Lutheran Church in Clarion with Pastor Gary Boen officiating. Burial will be 5:00 PM, at Mamreland Cemetery near Randall, Iowa.

Friends may greet the family Wednesday, May 25, 2005 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Ewing Dugger Helgeson Funeral Home, 602 North Main Street, in Clarion and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

Arthur “Art” Donovan Homervold, the son of Peter and Anna (Rolland) Homervold was born June 11, 1919 in Thor, Iowa.

On November 12, 1942 Art was united in marriage to Arlene Charlson at the Lutheran parsonage in Belmond. To this union one daughter was born.

Art farmed near Galt for 4 years, then near Belmond until he retired in 1992 and moved to Clarion.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great- grandfather. Art was an avid sports fan, especially fond of wrestling. He was very proud of his Norwegian heritage. Art has been a member of the First Lutheran Church in Clarion since 1942.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Arlene; daughter, Faye Heykants of Des Moines; grandson, Mark Heinzig and his wife Donna of Ames; granddaughters, Krista Heinzig and her husband Jody Ansems of London, England, Kara Heinzig of Des Moines; great-grandson, Peter Heinzig of Ames; and son-in-law, Bill Heinzig of Ankeny.

Art was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and one sister.
