Obituary


Arthur E. Zeigler, 75, passed away Saturday, May 11, 1996, at the North Iowa Mercy Health Center in Mason City, Iowa.

Arthur, the son of Ira and Ave Dell (Martin) Zeigler, was born November 1, 1920, in Kanawha, Iowa.  Art attended school in Twin Lake Township.  He then helped area farmers.  On October 25, 1942, he was united in marriage with Ruby Berhow at the Lutheran Parsonage in Belmond, Iowa, by Rev. Severseike.  The couple made their home on a farm west of Goodell, Iowa.  In 1946 he started his own farming operation for the next 29 years.  In 1977 they moved into Kanawha, but Art continued farming and trucking.  In February 1996 he sold his trucking business.  Art enjoyed spending his time fishing in Canada having gone there since 1951.  He also enjoyed horses and working on gas engines.  He was a member of the United Methodist Church where he served in various church board positions and was also an "auctioneer" for the church sales.

Art is survived by his wife, Ruby; his son, Roger and his wife, Marilyn of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada, and his daughter, Carol Mallory of Madrid, Iowa; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Vera Babcock of Corwith, IA, and Verle TerHark of Kanawha, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter, three brothers and one sister.
