Arthur J. Chizek

Arthur J. Chizek, 62, passed away Friday, November 23, 1996, at the Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Arthur, the son of William and Lillian (Kopacek) Chizek, was born on June 10, 1934, in Britt, Iowa. He attended schools in Britt and graduated from Britt High School.

On January 16, 1956, he was united in marriage with Lorraine Young in Garner.  He worked for Woodford-Wheeler Lumber Yard for over 40 years.  Since 1960, he has been the manager at the Woodford-Wheeler Lumber Yard in Britt.

Arthur enjoyed spending time with his family.  He also enjoyed fishing, boating and carpentry repair. He was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church, where he served as trustee and as an usher.  He also belonged to the Holy Name Society, the Catholic Workman and the Britt Chamber of Commerce.

Arthur is survived by his wife, Lorraine Chizek of Britt; his children, Kenneth and his wife, Cynthia of Clear Lake; Carolyn Chizek and her fiance Steve Kilborn of Clear Lake; Judy Brozik and her husband, Jim of Duncan; Gary and his wife Sheryl of Britt; Mary Chizek of Mason City; Ray Chizek of Ankeny; and Lori Chizek and her fiance, Brent Mullins of Ankeny; his grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Michael Chizek; Melissa, Stacy and Amy Brozik; and Allan Chizek; his mother, Lillian Chizek of Britt; one brother, William Chizek and his wife, Blanche of Britt; two sisters, Lorene Arndorfer and her husband, Francis of Willmar, Minnesota; and Marie Wieck and her husband, Gary of Las Vegas, Nevada.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Chizek, Sr.
